Saturday was the Boise " Buddy Walk". A down syndrome awareness walk downtown Boise and our buddy was of course Penelope. It was a lot of fun. We met at the capitol building with about 1300 other members of the community and walked down the middle of Capitol Blvd to a nearby park. There they had a big celebration picnic with pizza and entertainment. They hired Star Wars characters to mingle with everyone and James couldn't resist getting pictures. He got pictures with all the characters. I didn't post all the pictures but there are a lot. He was so excited, just like a little boy. Now he has hopes of Halloween costumes for miss Penny. Luckily for her she will be in the hospital so she won't have to succumb to wearing a star wars costume. :) It was a great day and it really helped us bond together as a family. It is always nice to get out and meet others with down syndrome. It helps me prepare for the future. I like to see all the different age groups and how they are developing and coping. We heard talk of a buddy cruise so we are going to keep that on our list for future vacations. I think it would be a blast to go on a cruise all about down syndrome. Once Penny is old enough to appreciate it we will start saving up. Well this was probably our last outing until we are headed to Spokane. Now we are officially homebodies - except for doctor appointments of course :)
